Final
June 12, 2008: I sit here before 10:00 pm, aproxamitely one hour and fifteen minutes after most the sad shame, and downright depressing walk of my life … but those words do not begin to describe the emotions felt by me and by millions of people. And if it was not most shameful that has to be up there "because nothing else seems as I always do this." We just blew a twenty points … It must be embarrassing, "I heard someone behind me was right …. Sure it was. Hello everyone, I'm Bryan Rootzoo … but I'm better known as my alias "Baseballnerd423" and I live in Los Angeles, the city of Los Angeles. But these angelic figures fell asleep in the final twenty-four minutes of play Downtown Los Angeles. I sit here before you tonight, ladies and gentlemen, in pure shock and disbelief … along with millions of others across America. Some, mainly those in New England, are in a state of shock that they are urging the party all night in their local pubs and get even more lost than they already are likely. For them at night would be something I'd be … except I do not want to campaign for this team are false. Others, including parties disinterested everywhere, also in Los Angeles and Beantown, are in a state of shock with the expression: "What really nothing $#!@, Santo! What game! "I envy those people a lot, because I have a helluva basketball game tonight, and emotions are not suicidal. And finally, we the Los Angeles … the state of shock when I found this night in downtown Los Angeles: capital of one of the most thoroughly depressing nights in the history of sport. Friends, I present to you my story of my night at the Staples Center, home games three and four of the NBA Finals.
I was born here in Angeles, and never knew much more. While baseball and football are my two favorite sports, I consider myself a great big Lakers fan. The NBA Finals began Thursday night, when most probably the most famous rivalry in all of sports, the Lakers and Celtics met again for the first time since 1987. Being floors franchise for so long (the Lakers and Celtics have won combined average of 62 NBA championships), through the 60s and 80s, were found again. Before this season, the Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen superstars and were immediately favorites in the Eastern Conference. Shortly thereafter, the Lakers traded a bag fries and a soft drink for the little star Pau Gasol and the Lakers became the favorites in the West. Everything went as expected, and a number two seed met in June. The series began last Thursday, however I could not see the Lakers lose as I had front row tickets to the Dodgers game (I get a lot of my luck with sports tickets … I am fully aware and I am very grateful.) After a seemingly bleak game, which went on to play again on Sunday.
Sunday afternoon, I was sitting at home by turning their thumbs when I received a message from a friend offered me tickets for the games three and four of the Finals NBA. An opportunity of a lifetime, really, and I had in my hands. Immediately I called my dad and told him about the offer and accept. Sunday night arrived, and so did the trip to Boston as the Lakers looked very strong as they were at one time twenty-four points. But with 39 seconds left, the Lakers were jumping a late, three pointers, and scores ahead and cut the lead to just two points. However, the Lakers were not able to get the trigger and tie the series one by one, and fell six-point victory for the Lakers. Poor arbitration by the arbitrators and the lack of defense and attack cost the Lakers the Lakers a victory, but … I will not go into detail about this game. Monday soon came and I anxiously awaited the next day as I carefully slipped into a conversation with anyone who cares exactly where going to the next day.
And on Tuesday morning, I woke up and got ready for action. I put the shirt of the Lakers, and was the most That I have been pumped for a sporting event. As my father walked down the Avenida Pico, Grand Avenue, Figuerora, and all streets leading to the arena, the adrenalin was rising and greater with each step. Let me tell you, for those of you who have not been in a championship game … the first home game of a championship series is something you need experience before his death. Even if you can not get tickets for the game, make an effort to walk around town and feel the buzz and electricity that surround the square. Thinking in the energy and excitement I felt walking into the Staples Center on Tuesday, I will be able to have that added energy to get through a test after a long night study or stay awake during class. After collecting a number of promoters were passing out free stuff on the streets, as T-Mobile NBA Finals " shirts (I'm using now … it's a VERY good shirt), I went to the stadium and watched in awe as the championship trophy from the NBA was seen everywhere.
Tons of celebrities were in the game, and I hear rumors everywhere around me, "Hey look is ___________________ (fill in celebrity hot shot here). It seemed as if neither team deserved to win a lot of points, given that both teams played very sloppy. In the game at least score in any Lakers-Celtics championship game ever, the game was just over so quickly as it started. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget, and after seeing an ugly Lakers win led by Kobe Bryant, Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic, and not much else, I was quite pleased. But I had not had enough yet. Still I had tickets for game four, but my dad could not go. Having everyone in the city want to go, I took an old friend of mine who is one of the most Lakers fans I I know because I knew he would appreciate more than anyone.
There are no words to describe this Lakers rivalry renewed. How many Fans were really old-time Celtics and Lakers fans, I'm not sure. But it sure seemed as if thousands of fans of the Celtics on Thursday night that there had been two nights earlier. However, that was all fine and dandy in the first half … best for fun, my daughter. More Celtics fans meant more than Lakers fans could yell. And just when it seemed as if we had all right to Odom, because he was playing like crazy and the rest of our equipment (except one) followed. Up to eighteen years in the media (and at one point even twenty-four points — twenty-four, sounds like a pattern), we again the second half with his head up and our tickets for the game of five years in our hands. The game, so we knew it was over. We were curious so much to win.
And this is what separated us from the Celtics. In the second game, the Lakers fell for twenty-four points and cut down — to two, but that was it. In the fourth game, the Lakers were twenty-four and the Celtics fell to two — and that's when I knew I was not finished. To be honest, I was very nervous when we were only up to eleven, let alone nine, seven, five, three, two, and finally one. And when it was a tied ball game, I turned to my friend and I realized it was five minutes into the game and if we had the lead throughout the game … and I wanted to continue in this way. However, as our small example, as my tolerance of a Boston fan, obviously drunk behind me. This type is the type of person I would be willing to bet on income of my life when I could not name the starting line up for the Celtics team last year without the help of his slightly less drunk friend. But their lack of knowledge is not he took from his drunken excitement, and after each game, he shouted in the loudest, deepest voice ever, "If YEAH !!!!!" This writing was a clerk what this man said, each word would have been "yes," but would more than exclamation points wine. In the last two minutes, after each yeah "," I said aloud in a low voice, "Shut up."
(It these fans coming to matches at home and horseradish for the other team that make me angry. I have no problem with you're a Celtics fan. We can not be friends, but I have a problem with you. But if you come to Los Angeles out loud, drunk and rowdy … I'll get a little annoying. And if you sit behind me and gives me a headache, infuriated me. Since he was considerably older than me, I obviously could not do anything else to write about it not really a J. I will speak, I am known to go to the games of the Dodgers had complete Mets jersey, but I'll try my best to keep a little cold. Ugh, stupid fan of Boston. I do not think that I am always dressed in green again in my life.)
We are in a sport website. We all know that Kobe only scored 13 points. We all know Lamar had the best first half I've seen of him, but had four points in the fourth quarter. We all know Phil outcoached by Doc all know that "the machine" went from a game of stars, all about the game of an athlete unknown. We know. But assuming that I am the only one writing about the end, I will tell you the feelings I felt. As I was walking down the escalator of Shame (bad design error, of course. There is only one escalator at all Staples Center and all Lakers fans were all fallen going down at the same time, as loud noisy fans high-fived Celtics.) Did not know what thinking. Possibly this loss was quite depressing. Possibly how much I needed this game because of how impossible it is to reach a 3-1 lead. A group of hateful, Bostonaians thick accents began to tell me how much it must hurt to be in a mocking way. I excluded, and started thinking about all the reasons why we lost a single game. But you can get from a sports commentator.
As I was walking down the avenue Figuerora, a man on a cell phone said on the phone who said he was talking to: "Look, I'm glad I went and here's why … me to see first hand the works of theater unfolded before my eyes that the Lakers do not deserve this championship. They are a team of shit. "And I looked, at first returned because it was wearing a Lakers jersey, a Then before I knew agreed with him. I'm glad I went because I learned that the Lakers do not deserve it. Fisher and Kobe has no rings. Pau was only here for a few months. Lamar played like crap in other games. The bank does not accelerate as if it were necessary. But Paul Pierce suffered through all those terrible years in Boston, and finally is a good team leader. KG, one of the best leagues of players, played for a team so terrible for so long and now is playing a great team in the championship. Ray Allen played for a mediocre team and is the intensification of the critical moments. This hurts to say because I am a huge Lakers fan. But they are not playing as they deserve a ring, and that's the damn truth.
Remember, I'm a Lakers fan. I want the ring. But I learned firsthand that they are not the better team and is not likely to get the championship. Riding home from the Staples Center with the window open, I heard a lot of cursing and angry and depressed Lakers fans. Not many people were talking, and if it was them shouting. It's just a game, I know. Worse things could happen. Could be seriously ill. Someone I know might become seriously ill. But this is what our souls had killed this week in Los Angeles. And this was my experience with the NBA over the past seven days … and I hope I have able to educate you in some way. It is now 11:30. The loss has had time to soak in, but I have to keep reminding myself to lose a series after four defeats, not three. It is the Lakers – Celtics … stranger things have happened.
