* Sometimes, it creates the impression that there is only one model
periodization employs a linear increase or undulating increased
intensity accompanied by a simultaneous decrease in the volume of training. However,
Verkhoshansky, for one, sometimes use the higher concentration blocks
training volume for a specific purpose, as explained in my textbook,
"Supertraining" (Siff, 2000). Here are some excerpts to explain his method:
From "Supertraining" (Pp347, 367, ..):
CONCENTRATE storage method
Two forms of compensatory adaptation, associated with the improvement of the CAR
(The current reserves of adaptation) systematic training, which differ in volume
and organization of training loads have been identified and studied
sports explosion (see Figure 6.23).
The first form of adaptation, produced by â € ~ € ™ distributed loading (A) is
characterized by a gradual increase in functional indicators (of
performance improvement) and is associated with a moderate level dc
load. In this case, the periodic disturbances short of the s body homeostasis
occur and the current expenditure of energy resources offset in
training. This form of compensatory adaptation following traditional concepts
for capacity development training and typical for athletes half
classification in contemporary training conditions.
The second form of compensatory adaptation, produced by â € ~ concentrated
loading € ™ (B) is associated with the use of a large volume, packed
specials, fitness, concentrated in the first half of
training phase. These large volumes cause a deep and prolonged
disturbance of the s body homeostasis, as reflected in the decrease of
functional indicators. Then, after the cargo volume is reduced, its
speeds increase and exceed the level achieved with the first form of
adaptation. This form of organization in high school load was mesocycles
designed for highly skilled athletes and has been shown by research to be
effective for all types of sport (Verkhoshansky, 1977).
Therefore, the method of concentrated training loads was designed to prepare
highly trained athletes, with the concentrated load for
specific stages of preparation (Verkhoshansky, 1977). The main novelty of
this method is to influence training focused on the
body with a high volume of freight one way for a limited period (up to
2 months). This influence produces a concentrated writing fairly stable
incomplete state of restoration that is associated with persistent
relatively prolonged disturbance of homeostasis. This triggers wide
functional changes that are prerequisites for subsequent supercompensation
and elevation of the body to a higher level of special training. A
important condition for the concentrated load is relatively low
intensity of the media, and that frequent use of these means already
intensifies the workout. The load can be defined as concentrated if its
volume in the month in which is concentrated 23 to 25% of general
annual volume.
Concentrated load is desirable to use primarily to increase
effectiveness of the SPP (specific physical preparation), and to this end
one can use the charge of any primary emphasis. However, the concentration of
specialized force loading is of particular importance not only for
raise the athlete 's fitness, but also to regulate the entire
cargo complex through the annual cycle in all sports …..
concentrated load force has its shortcomings, along with its
obvious advantages. For example, leads to a brief but consistent
Decreased strength speed, which decreases the athlete 's Special
work and complicates the task of improving capacity and technical knowledge
speed movement. ……
Therefore, it is clear that force creates large load side
conditions for improving the skill and speed. Considerable research
established that the large load force to the detriment of the art
of weight lifting movements (Khlystov, 1976; Vorobyev et al, 1978)
javelin (Ruvinsky, 1980) and the drilling speed in boxing (Filimonov,
1979). Instead of denying the value of the load concentrated, these
findings emphasize the importance of knowing when this method may be appropriate
use. It is important to remember, too, that if the load is concentrated
used, or cybernetic periodization based programming skills Perceived
Assessment of effort and Technology, as well as formal testing, can help
largely on the prevention of overtraining.
There is much more on this subject, as well as many other forms of
periodization, but these extracts should fill some gaps in the overall
understanding of concepts such as "volume" of training, and concentrated load
Linear "" periodization. About the Author
