How important is having a portfolio of theater, theater, music, dance, sports, etc?
I am finishing a business plan on the provision a multi-media performance of the portfolio / resume for students in the arts and athletics. I'm trying to seek "proof of concept" of this business idea and would be interested in information from people in the following markets. Schools (Sr. High, a community college, universities, academies of music-theater-art) private educational institutes, Tertre community, summer stock, equity and non-equity performers, etc.
I went to a secondary public performing arts and I think are most dfinatley something. Teachers do a good job (depending on the school) teach technique and gives you a workout appropriate in their chosen field, but the emphasis is not on the fact that it is ideal for creating presentations, other schools in order to obtain material for curricula vitae. This leads children to believe that many times will be accepted at the hearings on pure talent. In some cases this is true, but rarely. Sometimes, agencies and auditions not even see unless you have an attractive resume. And with today's technology, people are really looking for auditions. Sites like actorsaccess.com show functions different, but in order to receive the hearing date and location, your resume must be submitted in order to be sent to the casting director, so you can decide if you want or not to accept. Without a resume, you are relying on his pure talent, and the Industy entertainment, you really need proof of their work, especially if you want make a name for yourself.
